Totnes Market puts Devon firmly on the Good Food map

Regularly attracting over 50 traders each month, the Totnes Good Food Sunday market has become the biggest fine food and drink market in Devon and is rapidly becoming the largest in the South West. Launched in June 2010 with just over twenty producers, the market has grown month by month both in reputation and popularity. It attracts food lovers from all over the region, has been award-nominated and warranted mentions in local and national newspapers and magazines.

Like all good food markets, TGFS boasts local and sustainably sourced produce as its main core: hence three-quarters of its traders come from within a 30 mile radius of Totnes. And, because the very ethos of this independent market is to offer the highest quality and variety of food to its customers, producers from further afield - north Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Cornwall - are warmly welcomed to trade every month. And complementing the fantastic range of good food on offer, you will also find some stallholders (who live and trade in the area) selling your favourite Italian, Spanish and Greek goodies!

If variety is truly the spice of life then read on dear food-lover: every 3rd Sunday of the month you will find a fine selection of fresh game, beef, lamb, pork, goat; chicken and duck; plus organically farmed meats and poultry. Great staples such as choice local cheeses, fresh bread, chutneys, cordials and jams; delicious bakery produce including quiches, pies, pasties, cakes of every description and all things crumbly. Country wines, beers and ciders by the bottle and flagon; the freshest of veg, seasonal salads, even edible flowers; as well as elephant garlic, fresh herbs and smoked, flavoured salts. Vegetarian? You’re catered for (as well as those with gluten sensitivity). Chilli lovers? Queue here! You’re spoilt for choice. Big on fishcakes? Make your way to the Cockleshell deli stall or the shellfish bar for scallops, mussels, etc. and locally caught fish. Come early and claim your fresh-caught crab, cooked to order! Want more...? Goat’s milk chocolate truffles are to die for - try one! Dorset charcuterie, Devon pates, chorizos, olives, pure apple juice, Spanish tapas, Greek olive oil, Italian coffee and biscotti ... the list goes on.

So why not come early, to Talk Food - Taste Food - Buy Food at the Totnes Good Food Sunday Market. And with refreshments in situ at the Coffee stall and the very tastiest hot food-to-go stalls to tempt all you hungry shoppers (Thai - Veggie - Indian - Spanish - Devon Beefburgers - Caribbean ) ... you’ll see just why the TGFS market really is a foodies’ paradise!
